The mastopexy or « breast-lift » is the plastic surgery procedure used to rejuvenate the appearance of breasts that are sagging or deflated. The extra skin, nipple and breast tissue are all addressed in the procedure to produce a natural and youthful breast shape. Breast implants can also be used depending on the patient’s desires. A mastoplexy can be performed for the following reasons: Breasts that have lost shape and volume or are flatter and longer, nipples fall below the breast creases, nipples that point downward, areola have stretched out, or one breast is lower than the other.
A youthful and natural appearance
Sagging or deflated-looking breasts can occur after childbearing, weight loss, or in some older patients. It can be present in larger breasts in younger women.. A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin, reduces the circumference of the areola, and raises and repositions the nipple and breast tissue to the desired location. This cosmetic procedure gives a woman’s breasts a youthful and natural appearance.
Maximizes the aesthetic potential of a patient’s own tissues
By using the most up to date principles in cosmetic breast surgery and having performed well over 1000 surgeries of this type, Dr. Mok has developed a breast lift technique that maximizes the aesthetic potential of a patient’s own tissues. An internal surgical “push-up bra” is created, stacking and suturing breast tissues in a fashion that amplifies upper breast fullness and projection while at the same time narrowing and eliminating the wide and low appearance of some breasts. Liposuction is often also used during the surgery to help achieve this goal.
More volume, more fullness
If the patient wishes to have more volume, breast projection or upper breast fullness than can be provided from her existing breast tissues, breast implants can be considered to achieve this goal.
Options and goals
It is during your mastopexy consultation with your surgeon that the different options specific to your goals will be discussed to find the right treatment plan for you.
If there is more than 250 gm to remove per breast during the procedure, the surgeon fees can be covered by the RAMQ.
